Ian McKellen On Stage

November is a busy month for me and this weekend has been no exception.

So today I was off to the Harold Pinter theatre to see Ian McKellen On Stage, an afternoon where he discusses his life, career, offers funny anecdotes and of course offers up some acting too.

He starts off acting out a passage from Lord Of The Rings, I am sure you can guess which part, if not YOU SHALL NOT PASS this first paragraph.

He talked about his time on LOTR and even had a young fan on stage to get to grips with his sword (that’s what she said).

After that he talked about authors, poets and composers that he admired and had the whole audience singing ‘Keep the home fires burning’ at one point.

I’d also like to point out that this was an incredibly interactive between himself and the crowd, which was lovely.

He also had some more raunchy anecdotes, like the time he got his first erection watching a play. Which raised an eyebrow or two!

And finally, as I don’t want to give too much away, he had an anecdote for everyone of Shakespeare’s 37 plays. It really was a sight to behold.

If you have a chance to see him On Stage, please do go, it’s on until early January so there is still time!
